“Theresa Kavanagh now joins a burgeoning coterie of female fiddlers who are mean composers too.â€
Siobhan Long,
The Irish Times.Following her move home at nine years of age from Glasgow, Theresa was surrounded and greatly influenced by the fiddle playing giants of Donegal. Having learned from and played with musicians such as Tommy Peoples, Francie Mooney, James Byrne....she was immersed in the depths of Irish culture.Theresa's debut album is a musical expression of femininity and subtlety described by Mairead Nà Mhaonaigh as ‘sweet and true in every note.’
Eight of her original compositions appear on her album “The Seventh Veil†which was received with critical acclaim and attracted great reviews in the UK, Ireland, France, Italy and the USA.Theresa has performed at festivals such as Celtic Connections, Festival Interceltique, L’Orient, Errigal Arts Festival and has worked with artists such as Manus Lunny, various members of Capercaillie, Altan and Beoga, as well as Gerry (Banjo) O’ Connor, Dave Munnelly, Kathleen Boyle and many more.Earlier this year she was invited to perform alongside Dónal Lunny on his commissioned suite of songs “Mo Bhealach Féin.†Theresa is currently recording an album with Luke Daniels and is hoping to start working on her second solo album in the near future.
