François Taillefer has been active on the percussion scene in Quebec and Canada since 1988. Over the years, he has developed a passion for music and finger/hand percussion from around the world and different eras. He is a multiple grant holder of the CAC and the CALQ.He has studied with teachers such as Michel Dupire (Brazilian percussion) and Tony Mouassab (Arabic percussion).He has also attended various percussion workshops in Europe (France and Spain) with:Nan Mercader (Flamenco percussion) Rassoul Babaeï (Iranian percussion) Carlo Rizzo (Italian percussion) Adel Shams El Din (Arabic & North African percussion) Philippe Vigreux (Arabic & North African percussion) Habib Yammine (Arabic & North African percussion);As well as in America (Canada, USA and Dominican Republic) with:Glen Velez (Frame drums) Ganesh Anandan (Frame drums & Indian percussion) Raymond Haj (Arabic percussion) Bruno Paquet (Indian percussion) Luc Boivin (World percussion) Miguel Fenton (Dominican percussion) Georges Rodrigues (Haitian percussion) Alessandra Bellonie (Italian percussion) Lucho Quequezana (Peruvian percussion);And finally in Africa (Niger, Tunisia & Algeria) with:Lassad Hosni (Arabic & North African percussion) Mahmoud Ouartani (Arabic & North African percussion) Habib Samandi (Arabic & North African percussion) Riyad Dridi (Arabic & North African percussion) Ali Bassirou et Nouhou Hamidou (Nigerian percussion).His next workshop projects to come are to be held in Spain (2007), in Peru (2008) and in the Balkan region.

Band Members: François is currently involved with several music and percussion groups. In addition to playing with ancient music ensembles such as Les Jongleurs de la Mandragore and Les Malurons, the Sky Consort under the direction of Shawn Dagger and La Volta directed by Grégoire Jeay, he is also a member of the Brazilian percussion group Le Bloco directed by Michel Dupire and has collaborated with Fingerworks, a percussion trio directed by Ganesh Anandan.He also shared the stage with other groups and artists such as the The McDades (celtic music), Lynda Thalie (franco-algerian music), Kalyan (new-age music), Ballet Flamenco Arte de Espana (flamenco music and dance), Zeugma (urban music and dance collective), La Otra Orilla (flamenco music and dance), JouTou (world music), Caravana Flamenca (flamenco music and dance), Al Anwar Ensemble (classical oriental music), Lousnak (armenian music), Taïma Project (Inuit folk music) and Bâbord (actual world music).
Influences: From differents genres (world, progressive rock, folk and jazz) of all around the globe.
