OFFICIAL BIO
Brisbane based singer/songwriter Jennifer Postle decided that she wasn’t happy with the music that she was hearing on the radio. So she sat down at her piano and began to write what she wanted to hear. Drawing inspiration from her love of jazz, piano concertos and romanticism, she soon created a style that combined jazz, country and pop music. With songs that could be describes as lullabies, she is distinguished by her breathy vocals and expressive piano riffs.
Jennifer Postle, born in sunny Queensland, grew up in Brisbane. Her Nana was the first one who introduced her to the piano and she hasn’t parted with it since. Although not raised in a musical household, Jennifer always made sure she surrounded herself in music in some way.
She discovered her love of singing when she was just 4 years old, her first performance was at a kindergarten concert, where Jennifer sang so loudly she drowned out the rest of the kids and was told to stop singing. Fortunately she didn’t take this advice.
During school she continued to pursue her love of music even without any formal training. She dabbled in several instruments including, the saxophone, clarinet and the flute. All the while though she continued with her singing and piano.
When Jennifer was about 14 she began to pursue other artistic endeavours such as dancing and acting. She was accepted into an exclusive performing arts programme at 15 years of age. By 16 she’d had enough. Feeling very overlooked and undervalued it was in a music class that she discovered the art of improvisation and began to write her own songs.
At 17 Jennifer was accepted into the Queensland Conservatorium for her songwriting ability and has spent the last 3 years recording and collaborating with other musicians and producers and developing her abilities as a musician. She emerged ready to share her music and her abilities as an artist.
Jennifer is currently in the studio getting ready to launch her first E.P.
