the Responsibility Club

The Responsibility Club is the love child of Ben Henriques and his free time. What once began as a Montreal-Based Jazz Trio in 2005 has blossomed into a Quintet in order to accommodate Ben's compositional needs. In the beginning the group focused on the groove and odd-time signature aspects of the music, but eventually branched out resulting in an end product that is a fresh and interesting musical journey for any listener.The Trio did a self-funded 17-stop tour of British Columbia in 2006, promoting their first EP "Look Both Ways." They were very well received playing shows along with doing clinics for young musicians.The original members were Jim Bennett, Mark Nelson, but when Jim moved to Vancouver, BC, Remi-Jean LeBlanc took his place on electric bass. Since then many musicians have played with the Responsibility Club, including Michael Taylor (New Zealand), Remi Bolduc, Colin Power, and Jim Bland. Colin and Jim are still in the band today.
