In 2006, the october trio served notice that it’s a band ready to make an imprint on the Canadian jazz scene when it snagged the Galaxie Rising Stars Award at the 2006 TD
Canada Trust Vancouver International Jazz Festival last summer. An exciting Vancouver-
based group, the young members of this trio have been heralded as "among the city’s most creative musicians" by the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. Their acoustic jazz explores the boundaries of the saxophone-led trio tradition while creating a sound all their own.
"The October Trio is one of the reasons why jazz is in such good hands these days. They may be young (their average age is 24), but they're steeped in music. Their taste is omnivorous, from Coltrane and Coleman to punk, hip hop and bluegrass." - Paul Grant, CBC HotAir
Having performed at the 07' editions of the Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Seattle and Portland Jazz Festivals, the october trio have over the past 3 years garnered praise as one of the top young jazz groups in the pacific northwest.
The members of the october trio are also major contributors to the Vancouver jazz and creative music scene.
