Welcome to Illegible Records.

About Me

I edited my profile with Oxygen.
For the person who plunks a few notes on an old piano or scrawls a few lines down on paper dreaming of an outlet to realize that offering for what it is - Art - Illegible Records is the place to call home.
Started in 2003 as a name to slap on the back of a homemade CD, Illegible Records has grown into a full fledged independent record label based out of the Lansing, Michigan area with, at current writing, seven signed artists. With that being said, Illegible Records has no ambition to become the next Warner Brothers or corner the music market. Instead, it hopes to grow on the strength of musical community.
It's founder, instrumentalist and producer Eric Blades, having released a pair of CDs on his own began finding himself in a position to not only give advice but to help other local musicians in their similiar goals. After much thought, he decided to form a label that caters not to the stars but to the sky beyond - what is the real undercurrent of music. Talent that has little chance, for some reason or many reasons, to ever being heard.
The attitude is simple: if it's art, it needs to be heard - regardless of whether it's popular or whether it sells. Regardless of whether 40,000 people will hear it or 40. Does that individual have a vision? Can they do it or not? Can it be helped along into something better? Can the sale of a hundred thousand units really replace the smile of someone finally holding their creation in their hands?
In the end, Illegible Records is a haven for independence, creativity and inspiration. It's a place of artistic excitment, musical fellowship and spontaneous genius. These are all important things. These are what a label should be.
