The MBN is here to support the genre of Bluegrass Music in and around Michigan.
Traditionally, Bluegrass artists have “other†jobs. It is our goal to assist them with links to other musicians, venues, radio stations, sound studios for recording, etc… We are trying to make it easier for you the artist, to promote yourself and Bluegrass music in Michigan. For the fans, we look to introduce you to some events you might be unaware of. We hope that we make it easy for you to find the music you so love and that you come out and support it, and even help pass the word around! We include our nearest neighbors; Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Ontario CA… and are exclusive in this regard. This way, when receiving a bulletin or invite from the MBN, you can be confident it pertains to you or something near you. Our tradition for out of area artists is that if you have a gig scheduled in Michigan, we add you as a guest. We hope you arrive informed of what’s happening here in the Great Lakes area and hopefully, you have made some great connections and friends/fans to meet you when you get here. We hope you’ll be taking fond memories with you as you leave. After your show, we will remove you from our friends list, but not from our hearts! Hopefully, by that time, you have identified your fans and are taking their friendships with you. If you think about it, we don’t need the bulletins and invites for your shows in Arizona… it just makes us grouchy as the snow is heaping on our driveways! If your coming to Michigan and just want to know where concerts and jams are, send us a friend request and let us know that your coming. We'll add you too. We try to “showcase†our Bluegrass artists. This page is specifically for Bluegrass. Although we are supportive of all kinds of Root/Acoustic music, we are promoting BLUEGRASS. Traditional and New Grass. If anyone is looking for Bluegrass bands or artists, or song writers in Michigan, hopefully we have them in our top friends for them to be easily found. We try to rotate our top friends weekly. And we promote you and your art in a business like manor. We feel that Bluegrass music is crossing all sociall, economic, political boundries and age groups. We believe you should conduct your myspace page as you would conduct yourself in an audition or on a stage. If you wouldn’t take the strippers with you to an audition, then don’t have them in your friends either! Remember, whatever you have in your page(s) will be seen by the WORLD! This is YOUR network and we hope you add to the blogs and share information that you think would benefit Bluegrass lovers in our area!
