About Me

My earliest memories of music are singing with my parents at church, maybe 5 or 6 years old. In 6th grade I learned to read music and my first instrument was an alto clarenet. High school came and at 14 I rediscovered my voice and began playing everything- from Dire Straights and Queen to Mariah Carey and Celine Dion. I tried to soak it all in. I also began to pick up a few new instruments: guitar, harmonica, piano and harp. I found my ear - and karaoke had just begun to take the States by storm. I begged my dad to take me to a show. I can still remember how wide his eyes became when he heard me sing for the first time. I still have the recording of this performance - to which I cringe when I hear it (laugh).
The next 10 years we went traveling around to different shows - hundreds of contests - and Dad paying the bills so that I would be able to sing in public. My first studio experience came at age 16 with Don Middlebrook’s WindFall Entertainment. At 17, I was chosen along with 5 others nation-wide to work as a singing waitress at the Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island.
At 24, with karaoke becoming a fading trend, I asked Mike Daniels to keep his ears open in the music store for anyone who may have been looking for a singer. Mike put me in touch with Group Therapy. It wasn’t long before everyone in town knew who we were.
Three years later, a man walked into our gig, sat down and listened for quite a while. On his way out the door, he handed me a card and said, "Call me, I’ll change your life." This man was Douglas Allen Reed. Within 6 months Doug had recruited a very talented musician/arranger/writer/composer Peter Manno to work with me, and we began writing. After working with Peter for 2 years, I continued to write on my own, hoping that my band would share my desire to venture into original music; however, creative differences made this impossible.
In 2006, Doug assembled a group of musicians to record 7 songs and get a CD started. With positive responses to the music, I began to work on getting a band together to play it live and to find financing for completion of the disc. However, before any of this could be accomplished, Doug Reed passed away due to renal failure brought on by diabetes. His death affected me deeply and he will always be truly missed.
In 2007, the rest of the band that recorded with me began the long task of becoming a working band. Not wanting to be limited to any one kind of music - we became KNOT LIMITED.
Shortly after KNOT LIMITED began working, I was approached by Carol B from Baked Monkey to participate in their recording project. After listening to the album, I was indeed impressed and began adding little "things" to the mix (some harmonies - some keyboards - according to Carol, some karma). I was then asked to become a full-fledged Baked Monkey - I couldn’t resist.
Well, that’s about everything - up til now at least ....
