K. Smith

Kevin Smith is an up and coming musician and bass player attending the Florida State University. Here, he participates in a wide range of ensembles that include The Tallahassee Symphony, The FSU Symphony Orchestra, the FSU Opera Orchestra, FSU’s top jazz ensembles, and small jazz combos led by Marcus Roberts, Rodney Jordan and Scotty Barnhart, along with other courses in the FSU’s music program. Originally from Atlanta, GA Kevin has been featured in many performances with special groups led by Leon Anderson Jr., Marcus Roberts and Scotty Barnhart. During his stay in Tallahassee, Kevin has been featured or shared the stage with many notable musicians throughout the region, such as: Calvin Newborn, Fred Wesley, Charles Atkins, Takana Miyamoto, John Parks IV, Russell Malone, Longineau Parsons, Kevin Bales, Russell Gunn, Vaughn Barlow, Quentin Baxter, Phillip Harper, Kemba Cofield, Teddy Adams, Bernard Linette, Audrey Shakir, Danny &Terrie Harper, Stan Wilkerson, Gary Motely, and consequently became a first-call musician throughout the region. In addition to the legit scene and the Jazz genre, Kevin Smith has shared session time with Andre 3000 from Atlanta’s own Outkast, D.T.P. recording artists Field Mob, and other Hip-Hop and R&B artists. Kevin is currently on track to obtain a Bachelors of Music degree in string performance, and a Bachelors of Arts in Jazz Studies from Florida State University. In addition to Rodney Jordan, Scotty Barnhart, Leon Anderson and Marcus Roberts, Kevin Smith has also studies with Melanie Punter of The Atlanta Baroque Orchestra and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s.
