Rock and/or Roll, Reading and Writing, but Not 'Rithmetic.
I've already met 'em.
Blur, Bowie, Jane's Addiction, Pavement, The Who, Green Day, The Stooges, Mark Lanegan, QOTSA, Afghan Whigs, Built to Spill, Dandy Warhols, Stone Roses, most other Madchester bands, JSBX and Boss Hog, Tom Waits, Uncle Tupelo and Wilco (and early Son Volt), Weezer, Jeff Buckley, Liz Phair, PJ Harvey, Killers, Franz Fancypants, Ted Leo, Annie, the Dears, Yellow Note Vs Pukka, Kelly Clarkson ... kee-rist ... if I try to list what I listen to there won't be any room left on the page.
Unfortunately High Fidelity encapsulates many of my early years all too well, right down to the screaming in the rain the DJing at Double Door. other notables include Philadelphia Story, Breakfast At Tiffany's, Spinal Tap, Blade Runner, Wet Hot American Summer, anything by Wes Anderson, Kevin Smith, Tarantino or Jonze...jeez...this is almost as pointless as trying to list any bands!
During the regular season I watch The Simpsons, 24, Lost, and Footballers Wives. Aside from that it's lots of DVD sets of shows only I seem to remember, like Sledgehammer and his ilk.
Anything by David Foster Wallace, Rick Moody or Will Self. Nabakov and Gaddis and Vonnegut...I was an English major and still read voraciously so this is another endless list so I'll fill it in as I go along.
