About Me

PROFESSIONALLY:After extensive theatre training (and several careers) in New York, MICHAEL TEH moved to Los Angeles last year and has already worked on over 18 films, mostly in lead roles. Recent roles include playing the antagonist in upcoming action feature “White Wall”; and last year he starred in "Wraiths of Roanoke" opposite ADRIAN PAUL - a film that debuted prime-time on Sci-Fi Channel last Fall.Comedic feature work included a lead role in “Right Time Wrong Place”, and a supporting role in “Ricky is Famous”. Last year he also played the dramatic lead in “Touch” opposite French screen legend CARLA MARLIER and was offered the romantic lead role in the feature “Maya” shooting in India. He has recently been offered a supporting role in "Patanjali". Fine teachers such as SUSAN BATSON (NICOLE KIDMAN’s coach) and AUSTIN PENDLETON have commended his ability. In fact, Susan recommended him for a lead role opposite MERYL STREEP (“Dark Matter”); and in the 2005 TNT Dramatic Auditions monologue competition, he was named a SEMI-FINALIST & Prize-Winner out of thousands of nationwide contestants. Michael has mastered many US and international dialects and in LA trains with Margie Haber, Bobbie Chance and at the Larry Moss Studio. It's far from his latest and greatest work (as he's still waiting for tape from a variety of films shot in the last two years) but his DRAFT REEL is viewable below...Michael Teh Reel 2007

Add to My Profile | More VideosPERSONALLY: Moved to LA relatively recently (from my beloved New York) to become a professional actor. Have run away a top MBA and law degrees, a business/strategy consulting career (MTV, Nickelodeon, Time Warner, @ Booz Allen) and income, to pursue a dream and enjoy life more fully. After my corporate career I studied acting in NY for 3 years and modeled with Ford to help pay the bills. Am originally from sunny Sydney, Downunder. Love my family and friends the world over.... and travel, food (the only physical pleasure I get with any regularity these days =), wine, women and song (as long as I'm not the one singing) and dancing (after a few cocktails =). I'm only a social drinker (but I'm addicted to socializing =).

My Interests

Travel, meeting people, acting, film, bodysurfing, surfing, hiking, yoga, family, friends, food, dining al fresco, wine (then dancing =), Lindt 70% and Intense Mint dark chocolate (does that make me a girl?), spirituality, transformation and personal growth, girls, kissing, snuggling, shagging, napping =).Have been to been to over 40 countries and especially love Italy, Thailand, Brasil, Spain, France (and Australia!). Am into all kinds of "international stuff" - customs, politics, food, tradition.... and local knowledge when you visit a place. Really want to go to Croatia, Russia, Argentina, and come to think of it, many, many other places. My favorite cities are New York, Sydney, Prague, Cape Town, Rome, Paris and Barcelona, and more cute little towns and villages than I can name. (I need help with LA!)Love the ocean, the beach, the waves, the mountains (so I care about the environment) and used to windsurf and ski competitively, and started to snowboard (back when I had money i.e. pre-acting).Enough about me!

I'd like to meet:

If I don't know you (yet)... please at least pop me a message before adding me! We all do it sometimes but if you're regularly a FLAKE or consistently late (both incredibly disrepectful) or drive a Hummer or huge truck that you don't need for work (i.e. you're an environmental terrorist) I simply have no interest in befriending you (unless you have some incredibly redeeming features =).However... I really would like to meet...PROFESSIONALLY - Talented Casting Directors, Agents, Managers, Producers, Directors, Photographers & Actors (2 run lines/rehearse/audition prep with =).PERSONALLY - genuine, passionate, respectful, honest and funny people. And given that I don't have many great friends in LA yet... it would be cool if you live or visit there too! (Oh and if you're single, gorgeous and female - all the better =)Right now 70% (ok, ok so now it's only 60%) of my myspace friends are actually people I know from the real world (as opposed to cyberspace). Am here to stay in contact with those folk and to meet a few people in the categories mentioned.

Music:

Love artists in all genre's (except probably country & western, gangster rap & heavy metal).... Especially love ColdPlay, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, Pearl Jam, Police, Jamiroquai, Sting, Alanis Morrisette, David Gray, Oasis, Jeff Buckley, Massive Attack, Sigur Ros, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, FunkStarDeluxe, and a lot of dance and house and lounge DJs, compiliations and artists most of whom I can't identify =) And check out my supertalented singer-songwriter friends who's music is on myspace - Jacqui MacKenzie, James Carrington, Ruut and the Kin!

Movies:

.. - Get Your Own
Dead Poet's Society, American Beauty, Gallipoli, Whale Rider, Notes on a Scandal, Braveheart, Fight Club, The Life of Brian, The Holy Grail, Napolean Dynamite, The Piano, The Matrix, all Sean Connery Bond Films, Zoolander, Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, Pulp Fiction, Being John Malkovich, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Finding Nemo, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Silence of the Lambs, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Good Will Hunting, Traffic, Dirty Harry, The Godfather, City of God, What the Bleep Do We Know; The Secret =)

Television:

Created @ Starboo.com

Books:

Would love to still be able to call myself a "reader" (because I admire them =), but that just wouldn't be true these days. I grew up adoring fantasy (think I've read nearly every word written by Tolkien). Grew an aversion to reading in law school (and throughout my corporate career where I had to read boring business and industry reports etc). Since becoming an actor I've been reading tons of plays and screenplays (not to mention scenes and sides). Now I generally only read novels on vacation (so I doubly love it!); and spiritual and political books more regularly - primarily a few pages at night to put myself to sleep =). So on my bedside bookshelf right now (and slowly getting read): The Power of Now, The Clash of Fundamentalisms, Sophie's World, The Artist's Way, Dreams from My Father.

Heroes:

Mum, Dad (all good parents for that matter); my sister Sally (who's a smart, over-educated, hard-working mother in Portugal), my brother David (a PhD in fine art making his way in Thailand); the Dalai Lama; Gandhi; Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, & Judy Dench (the world's best actresses); George Clooney for charm; Jacqui McKenzie for thoughtfulness; Martin Stoller for inspiringing the unconventional; Dave Vockell, Anne Sullivan, Amanda White, Jody Heisler (and all other unselfish, inspiring people); people who work for Greenpeace and other environmental groups; and all passionate, caring teachers of children.
