Nightmare On Love St

About Me

Get those denim jackets out of the closet my friend! The Watt Riot have just been Unearthed by Triple J and are preparing to boogie some eardrums with their high voltage, vintage twangin’, rock’n’roll tunes.Forming around the shores of Wollongong in 2005 Johnny Watts on vox & guitar, Red on lead guitar, Dan on bass and Trina on drums have been described as a band that is "Harking back to the glory days of dirty Australian rock’n’roll." Rusty Hopkinson - Reverberation / You Am I.The Watt Riot’s tunes are filled with catchy guitar hooks, sing-a-long style vocal harmonies and hair flickin’ rhythms. This band will have the punters tapping their hi-tops all over the dance floor and yelling for more! "More throat-tearing gutbucket, kickarse rock from Wollongong, jagged, ragged, uncomplicated, uncompromising, unpretentious guitar-chunking, scream-driven, four to the floor thump in the grand tradition of The Hard-Ons and Tumbleweed." Michael Smith - Drum MediaIn March 2006 The Watt Riot released their debut EP ‘Nightmare on Love St’, distributed by boutique label Reverberation. Recorded in Sydney at Velvet Sound Studios and Mastered by Don Bartley at Studio 301, the quality and sound of The Watt Riot has been captured on this little gem. Radio stations including Sydney’s FBi and Triple J have been playing tracks from the EP and Triple J Unearthed The Watt Riot in Febraury 2007 with the track Rock’n’Roll. "Y’know how everyone uses ’rock’ to describe something good these days. Like ’you rock dude!’ or ’that DJ sets was totally rockin’, or ’I’m gonna rock the mic tonight’ or even ’Fallout Boy rock!’. Well, unless they sound like this song by the Watt Riot, they’re don’t really ’rock’ at all." 5/5 - Chris Scadden - Triple J "Bloody brilliant band! I’ve caught them around Sydney multiple times and each and every time they give it all they’ve got. When I grow up I’m going to marry them all." Simon Keck - FBi Radio "This is like hard as Boniwell Music Machine....it’s smoking...and what a cool name for a band...". 5/5 Jesse Hughs - Eagles Of Death Metal "...the absolute standout has to be All or Nothing - a rock-pop tune that’s as catchy as hepatitis. And, coupled with the impressive production, is exactly the sort of thing you can imagine Triple J playing. If there’s any justice in the world, they should be adding it to their playlist." Sounds Like: Vintage Rock'n'Roll sounds that can be sweet one second and screaming the next. Think of QOTSA mixed with The Hives guitar sound, Led Zeppelin's drum fills and You Am I's bass runs. All of this with the unique vocals of Johnny Watts creates The Watt Riot. Overall The Watt Riot creates danceable, 'sing-along', upbeat, fun rock with a cute fluffy surface.Just listen to the tunes.....
