ADD US!The Units have been together since the beginning of 2006. Jamming and improvisation are what sets them apart. Through their improvisation, they develop many skills, including the all important "togetherness". The musicians of the band also play jazz with the Wollongong Conservatorium. This is to improve their skills and develop a greater recognition of the musical world.
Chris, the band guitarist, is not only the lead guitarist but the main composer. Every song the band has written Chris has composed it or had majority say. Chris like to write basic rock tunes and then incorporate very music elements to his songs. Chris idolizes guitarists like John Petrucci, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert and Eddy Van Halen.
Jesse, the vocalist, has been singing all his life. He has had classical training with various teachers. His dad is an esteemed guitarist, encouraging and nurturing his musical abilities. Jesse's dad also created The Units in Year 1 at a primary school talent show. Jesse is best known for unique on-stage presence.
Riley, the bassist, started playing bass shortly before he joined the band. Since that time, he has learnt vast amounts in very little time and enjoys any musically educational experience possible. Having a very musical upbringing, Riley loves music on a whole.
Drew is the bands drummer. Deeply rooted in jazz, Drew strives to perfect his musical and technical ability through various programs. Drew has had lessons with some of Australia's best jazz drummers including, Dave Goodman, Alex Masso, Al Hicks and Sam Cairns.
