The Nice Folk

It's finished. Who wants to put it out?

About Me

The Nice Folk started as a project for Lax Charisma & Dave Mutton to make a few extra bucks under the pretence that they were “nice” and that they played folk music. It didn’t take long for the local cafes to realise that the humble duo (along with cheesy drum machine accompaniment) were not quite a family orientated folk act and that they weren’t exactly “nice”. The Nice Folk were forced to abandon the good money and the free nachos and take their drum machine and try their luck on the pub circuit. These early chaotic ventures were captured on the limited run live EP Night Of The Nice Folk (released in 2004). The line-up continued to expand through different incarnations (at one time numbering 12) and eventually settled into a consistent 6 with occasional guests and this was captured on the 2006 effort Guide To Sedation & Isolation which finally saw the band gain a bit of recognition and score some support slots with some of their favourite Australian artists including Ian Rilen & The Love Addicts (R.I.P), Spencer P. Jones, Brian Henry Hooper, Leadfinger, James McCann, Celibate Rifles and more recently Magic Dirt. In January 2007 the band entered the analogue Tongarra Studios hidden in the farm yards of Albion Park under the watchful eye of Steve McCarthy & Stew “Leadfinger” Cunningham to begin work on their latest opus and finished proceedings at Stew’s Rendezvous Studios in June 2008. The end result is 18 new tracks which the band is now shopping around to prospective labels to release late 2008 early 2009.
