Formed by Sean Greenway in 1995 with the goal to write and release a new kind of sonic rock'n'roll music, The Yes-Men saw Greenway realise his at that time underrated songwriting talents. He had been in Melbourne teen rock and roll stars, GOD and he had helped form The Freeloaders with his close friends from The Philisteins. Greenway was pretty much a mainstay and large part of the burgeoning Melbourne / Australian underground rock scene in the late 80’s and early 90’s. It wasn’t until he formed The YES-MEN that his creativity hit its stride, he recorded a demo with a fledgling Yes Men which reached the ears of the Hellacopter’s White Jazz label, and inked a deal which saw the Yes Men's Debut LP “Prosody†released on White Jazz in late 1999 and locally on Stolen Records. The most constant lineup of The Yes-Men comprised Greenway on guitar and vocals, with Stewart 'Leadfinger' Cunningham (Brother Brick / Asteroid B612) on lead guitar, Jay Curley (Tumbleweed) on Bass, and Mark Hurst (Guttersnipes) on Drums, however he was also helped out by Tasman Blizzard (Meanies) and Matthew Whittle (God, Pattersons Curse). The second album of recordings which was released posthumously on vinyl by Bang! Records as 'El Peligro Ha Comenzado' and as a self-titled CD on Butcher's Hook Records in the UK, were originally intended for a variety of Eps, split singles and work in progress towards the next album – included are covers of Steve Earle and Sex Pistols songs, artists that typified the range, talent and intensity of The Yes-Men.
Sean passed away from an accidental drug overdose in January 2001, thus leaving a band cut down in their prime. The music has the last say and so The Yes-Men and Sean Greenway live on for fans of high energy powerful rock, the kind of stuff that epitomised by the whole Australian underground rock scene (Radio Birdman, Saints, Bored, Powder Monkeys, Hoss, Brother Brick etc) and the 90’s Scandinavian rock scene (Hellacopters, Turbonegro, Nomads)…and the band Sean worshipped - THE SONIC’S RENDEZVOUS BAND.
