Her last unicorn (HLU) is Kieran Holm, singer songwriter from Tasmania, Australia. Kieran writes melancholic folk/down-tempo songs and records them in his bedroom in the country. It's quite Lo-Fi, as it is all recorded using one microphone from the 1970's, with a pretty cheap recording device. HLU began in 2004 when Kieran came across some recording equipment, mainly a mini disc , a microphone and a computer program. He started recording melancholy sounding songs with the aim of making each song that was recorded 'the saddest one yet.' Since then HLU has found his own sound and makes raw and honest music. Some of the songs are purposely discordant and down-tempo, and others are more on the pretty folk music side. Inspired by fairy tales and children's stories, the themes of the songs range from fictional characters being socially isolated (Boo Radley) to the heartbroken feeling of unreciprocated love.A 14 track CD with the title "Heroes, Villains and the In-between" has just been released (Winter 2007). Film clips for the songs Unrequited Love and DB have also been made and are available on You Tube.
