The band's history started sometime in late 2004, when I got my first bass. The intent wasn't really to start something new. Originally I was trying to learn enough to take up a vacant spot in a friend's band. Eventually, I had learned enough that my playing could be called "adequate". In the meantime, however, the vacant spot had been filled. So there I was, with a new bass, meager knowledge of music, and nothing to do. I needed to do something about this. So Justin, who had been helping me learn to play, helped me hack together a few songs. These songs became the demo put out under the name 'Overdue Abortions'.
Overtime I managed to actually recruit others into this abomination. The first to join were Cheryl and J. The Orignal lineup had myself on bass and vox, J on guitar, and Cheryl on drums. We found out that Cheryl is a much better singer than I am. Not that this is a stretch... Afterall, I was disguising my lack of talent with a distortion pedal.
For a short time we tried using a drum machine. Here's the thing about drum machines: they're increadibly unforgiving. They don't play with you, they don't adjust for your mistakes, they just play. Harsh reality was setting in. This is when Jason took up drumming during our practices. This gave us the ability to actually start working on meatier material. Aside from drumming, Jason was bringing with him a wealth of musical theory the rest of us lacked at the time.
Around the time the first year of OA came to a close, we decided a new name was needed post haste. 3 guesses as to which name we ended up with.
We finally managed to round out our sound recently. Mike Owens, a.k.a. O-Town, joined us taking up bass duties while I moved to guitar. Which brings us to the present.
