URB ALT FESTIVAL 2008
URB ALT Testimonials
Secretary a.k.a. Moist Paula:
Playing the opening night of the URB ALT Festival at the Schomburg
Center in New York was the most auspicious setting I could have hoped
for to debut my new solo project, Secretary. It was an honor to play
such an illustrious, historical venue and it was a blast to play on a
bill with so many great bands. Thanks for having me!
Dragons of Zynth:
There are only so many places in this revered city where an artist can feel at ease sharing the 'lifeblood'. In the case of DOZ it was an honor to play the URB ALT party at Tonic this early in the game. It seems as though bands sneak in this tucked spot and leave always having performed intimate and memorable shows. More important than slugging it out with the droves of bands in the city, there is a gleaming optimism coming from this crew of musicians/artists. The URB ALT dynamic is one of the few inclusive collectives in this city that builds as much momentum as it does spirit.
Tasneem of le bande Jungli:
URB ALT est dans mes pantalons (URB ALT is in my trousers).
Sad Android:
The time has come for the Urb Alt to pronounce it's unbelievable vibe and strength among the hearts and minds of all people. The band gives full support to the musical and intellectual freedoms the Urb Alt promotes! Mutha Wit, let's start the ceremony!
Blackbeard:
the realist vibe in new york period.
muthafuckaz don't know about rock n roll. the freedom. this URB ALT thing is more than just a show. people are always sleeping on the truth. these are the roots of the new sound, the new time. cats want to look the part but they ain't playing shit. same old groove. a dying vibration. long live ROCK & REVOLUTION
Carletta Hurt, CEO of BluTopaz, Inc. - Public Relations, Marketing:
Boston Fielder has displayed a high level of commitment over the years to giving creative artists a vehicle to showcase their talents. He has focused on building a foundation of credibility, integrity and consistently great work. I have enjoyed working with him and appreciate the strength of vision in URB ALT and his staying true to it.
Ben Tyree
(founder of Miscellaneous Flux and MuthaWit Guitar Conspiracy Theorist):
May URB ALT continue to help artists and musicians with their heads up their asses organize and share their weirdness with NYC and the world...
The Bunkbeds:
When The Bunkbeds played the URB ALT series the experience was uplifting. Our own crowd was supplemented by the diverse audience Boston Fielder brings in through URB ALT. Although we were just a duo at the time, it felt like we had a whole band behind us, the crowd roaring us on as we played our flavor of electro-pop. We were equally exposed to excellent music that night from the rest of the acts. Now when an URB Alt is in town, I know that it's something to check out.
Tella:
Not to mention that Boston is a dear friend and sole inspiration for my jump head-first into forming a band in New York City, but he also is the creator of the unique URB ALT series. I was extremely pleased and excited to be a part of the first URB ALT here in the city. I didn't know what to expect, other than some local artists he'd gathered. What I discovered that night, was that there are beautiful, creative, talented artists in this city living under the radar. That evening was a magical, full-house of freaks, geeks and local ragamuffins. We all stood wide-eyed at Blackbeard's sonic explosion and at Boston's angelic, yet soulfully sexy voice. I stood onstage with my band, performing in awe of the audience, who couldn't have been more supportive and loving. That URB ALT was probably the best gig I've had in the city nothing more cohesive or comfortable have I experienced since.

Elliptical Ferns
The Ferns used their knowledge of NYC waterways to circumvent the effects of a transit strike and the URB ALT crew met them at the river guiding them through a steller evening of music.
