IT AIN'T EASY BEING WHITE, IT AIN'T EASY BEING BROWN, ALL THIS PRESSURE TO BE BRIGHT, I GOT CHILDREN ALL OVER TOWN... Formed in the summer of 2006 in Queens, New York, Dejapres is comprised of Andy Bustillos (vocals), Richard Dasilva (guitar), Gil Barreto (bass), Daniel Bonsignore (guitar) and Robinson Rodriguez (drums). Combining the influences of Deftones, Glassjaw and Dredg, while still retaining a sound unique enough to call their own, Picture Start showcases the talents of a band fully expanding their sound to transcendent heights. With songs ranging from the atmospheric moodiness of “Stranger On Shore” to the claustrophobic disarray of “Light Up the Darkness”, Dejapres carry enough range to appeal to a wide audience of music fans. The songs touch on themes such as sex, substance abuse, and obsession with hauntingly melodic accompaniments that keep rapt attention until suddenly disrupted by a complete changeup in song format and style. The album was recorded in the excellent Big Blue Meenie Recording Studio in Jersey City, New Jersey and was produced and engineered by Tim Gilles (Thursday, Taking Back Sunday, Bouncing Souls).
