Welcome to the Denali MySpace page!!
The band formed in April of 2000 when Maura Davis approached her older brother Keeley about helping her with some songs she'd been working on. The two of them enlisted the help of fellow Richmonders Jonathan Fuller and Cam DiNunzio, and Denali was formed. After recording their first couple demos that year, the band went on to sign to Jade Tree records in 2001. Their self-titled debut came out in April of 2002, followed by The Instinct in October of 2003. Both records were licensed by French label Vicious Circle in early 2004 and Japanese label Big Records around the same time. The band toured the U.S. numerous times before disbanding in Spring 2004 (see the show archive for more info!). A posthumous DVD of live performances and home movies was released by Lovitt Records in 2006.
For the past few years, singer/guitarist Maura Davis fronted a band called Ambulette which parted ways in 2007. Bassist Keeley Davis is currently playing guitar for Sparta. Drummer Jonathan Fuller is a producer for a commercial music company in Richmond called Black Iris Music, and guitarist Cam DiNunzio recently moved back from NYC to Richmond to do the same. He also writes his own music for a couple different projects: City Of Islands and Churchyard Bricks. Maura and Keeley also have a band called Glös which has recent releases on Lovitt Records as well.
During the first few months of 2008, the original line-up has gotten together for rehearsals for the first time in five years, (watch it here)
and they've just announced the reunion show!!
The show is going to be on Saturday, July 5th in Richmond, VA at the National , which is this BEAUTIFUL old vaudeville theater that was built in the 1920's, and was just recently renovated to be a performance space. As you can see from the photo, it's absolutely the perfect place for all of us to come together again.
Tickets just went on sale and are a scant $10 advance/$13 day-of-show. You can purchase them by heading over to Ticketmaster . If you live in or near Richmond and would like to avoid the service charges, you can visit the National's box office at 708 E. Broad St. Monday - Friday between 10am and 3pm.
We have a lot of little surprises in store for the show, as well as announcing the openers very soon. We hope all of you can make it!!
