Atoms to Suns///NYC Noise

About Me

Atoms to Suns is a NYC-based band focused on creating dark atmospheric rock, soaked in elements of dub.ATS began in the fall of 2005 as a songwriting and recording partnership between Michael Derby and Maria Estrella. Derby handled instruments, programming and production, while Estrella sang and played keyboards. A productive and collaborative arrangement, the pair ground out more than an album's worth of tracks. But as much as recording is at the heart of ATS, Derby and Estrella wanted to play live, too. They began by welcoming drummer Juan Mora. Gigs commenced in early 2007. After starting out with another player, Johnny Green joined during the fall of 2007 on bass. While rooted in the open world of computer recording, the band takes its studio creations and translates them aggressively, with all the power of a full rock band. Atoms to Suns is in the final stages of completing a full-length album with an anticipated release date of early 2008.
