About Me

I got my Myspace Layouts from 123mycodes.com
Making music for pre-recorded theatrical or animated creations interests me though I find it hard to fit music into my schedule, nowadays.I've playing stringed instruments for the better part of the past two decades and am most interested in classical guitar, bajo sexto, guitarrone and other exotic stringed instruments and the sounds they can make. The bowed saw would be neat to learn.I once played bass and guitar in the early 90s for a band called Gnat King Kong during the lounge/swing/rock revival period. The band's nomenclature was hailed best band name in 1993 and acclaimed by The San Antonio Current.Gnat King Kong played in coffee houses in San Antonio, San Marcos, and Austin as well as some larger venues alongside the likes of schmaltzy lounge, funky, and funk bands along the likes of Electrolux and Deep Sombrero. In 2003 I explored the notion of touring (on a Greyhound) in acoustic venues but I couldn't seem to find enough of them to justify the pursuit. At that time I had recorded a self-produced CD called "Tall Tales of the Yo-Yo Collector" but most of them were sold in a SXSW gig or were lost in a Greyhound depot locker in Seattle, WA when I was checking out BC and Olympia, WA.A family man, touring, late night gigs, etc. do not really seem to have a place in my life as a devoted husband and present father. My wife and daughter are at the center of my interests. Most recently, I've been making music with Mariachi instruments: Bajo Sexto; 12-string, Classical & Flamenco guitars; Guitarrone and records with keyboards/synth when given the opportunity. In short, I aspire to serve as a modern day bard rekindling forgotten words and chords with dramatic and melancholy melodies.

Sounds Like: A lyric/melody-driven mumbler with some other plucking catgut. Alas, the musicians you hear are one in the same. Rarely do I record guitar and vocal tracks independent of one another. I feel performing a song is not unlike hewing an ice sculpture. The air being like the ice. Like the block of ice, only a memory of the song will remain. Whilst sculpting, I pick at measures, yes, they are picked, and my breath smooths spots. To be a real-time bard: the aspiration of this Leopold da Motto.
