Jack to the future...

About Me

Since he first got that old Fisher Price record player and ruined his Mum's Beethoven vinyl with scratches at an early age, Chris MacDonald may have seemed destined to end up in a musical career. In reality he took the long way round, his teenage years spent chasing sports dreams, and only started DJ'ing 5 years ago after making an mp3 mix helped out by Napster.
Already a seasoned clubber, he soon wanted more and after meeting with a crazy American known as Esteban Carracas he found someone just as nuts about music as he was and who had a spare pair of belt drive turntables... The pair soon became DJ partners so they could warp everyone's fragile little minds at many a house party!
The next few years saw him play in many pubs and clubs including Ufreak @ The Venue in Edinburgh and The Soundhaus, The Vault, Osmosis, Bar Bloc, The Halt Bar, the Library, O'Henry's basement and several large barn and tent parties. He has even done several home-town gigs in village halls on the Isle of Arran where the crowd is as crazy as anything in the big cities.
2005 was a great year as Chris & Esteban impressed enough to get a fortnightly residency at Bar Ten. Then after meeting Craig 'Jack Daddy' Hamilton (Control, Kolour, Greenhouse) who hosted Static on Radio Magnetic, Chris made his live debut on air. The pair hit it off having the same tastes in House music, both having come from Techno backgrounds, and along with Esteban the trio began Chi-Town Baby! @ Basura Blanca in Glasgow, a night with an emphasis on the best US and European House sounds.
2006 began with a bang as Chris, Esteban & Craig hosted Troydon (Nightshift, Drop Music, Grab) at the Soundhaus for his UK Debut in February and this June saw Slum Science of Hudd Traxx fame play a blinder at Chi-Town Baby! Other guests have included Leon Knowles (Choice, MOS Radio), Fraid So (Greenhouse Recordings) making Chi-Town Baby the best place around for the jacking house sound.
For the last 2 years Chris & Esteban have somehow found the time to run their own diverse club night - Audio Ice Cream at Glasgow Uni Post Grad Club. With an anything goes music policy, provided you can dance to it and the night builds up in intensity! Guests such as Mellow Sub Machine, Green Sofa DJ's (Subcity Radio), Jamie Young (Cotton Cake), Suburban Funk Command and Dub Sporadic have all had the place jumping along with many local DJ's showcasing a range of styles from Funk, Soul, Disco, Indie, Rock, Dub, House, Electro and Techno. Boom Monk Ben (Mixed Bizness) and Full Phat (Obese) recently rocked the place while more quality guests are due in the coming months.
And to top it off Chris finally spent some time in the Studio recently and along with Craig they made Swingin' G-town, a jacked up version of a classic swing tune that has been getting play from the likes of DJ Dizzi, Chris Grant, Brian Anderson and the 1200 Warriors and is due for release on Bassmint Recordings.
Since then further collaborations with Craig and Stefan (Esteban C) have been picked up by Lingo and Craig's quality Glasgow label Flatpack Traxx. You can also catch all three hosting Flatpacked on www.chicagohousefm.com every Monday night from 9pm-11pm gmt.
