About Me
Rob loves so much music although plays and produces house music, deep, funky, jackin, soulful, chunky, disco, dirty, laid back to name a few styles. Djing since 1996, starting with drum and bass, after a few years Rob started to play at parties around Kent and Sussex, and went on to play alongside Andy C and Bad Company at Pure Science(Maidstone) along with promoting a string of successful dnb parties of his own too. Around 1999, after working in a local independant record shop for a few years, Rob made the transition to house, thanks to a few friends who were already hooked, since then Rob has never looked back and got stuck into playing out, holding residencies at many local bars over the years and playing at local parties including the infamous Gosh events alongside local don Paul Hillyer. Rob opened and ran his own independant record shop (Locked Groove) after the close of the independant store in 2001, and has also turned his hand to promoting again on a fair few occasions, most successful parties being annual free beach parties, and a UGH night named Stereo People, co-promoted with a mutual dj friend(this name went on tobe used for the Chicagohousefm show of course). After years of playing house music Rob was invited to play at Herbal (Shoreditch, London) for Bobby&Steve, also warming up for Tall Paul @ Cream, and Kinky Movement @ Keep On, both nites at Funktion rooms EB (Rob became Sat night Resident from the opening of this local purpose built club). "I would say i stumbled upon underground house after playing more typical Defeted/Subliminal style disco house, over years I had gained a massive vinyl collection of Miguel Migs, Kerri Chandler, Inland Knights & Joey Youngman, Freerange/NRK style tracks. This sound has completely taken over for me now, since the soulful/funky house scene left me craving more substance in my house music". More recently Rob has started a new UGH house nite with co-host Neil and a couple of other local house heads, Chicaboom looks set to be a decent club night/brand after just a few successful parties including the likes of dj Camouflage, Mr Hun, Magnus Asberg & DJ SNEAK amongst other grrreat guests. The Stereo People radio show started on Chicagohousefm.com at the end of 2007. "The soundtrack of the revolution""CLARKISM", Rob's new solo show is now up & running every other Wednesday 11pm-1am on www.chicagohousefm.com :)
