MANIFESTA 7

I am here for Friends

About Me

MANIFESTA, the itinerant biennial changes location every two years, in response to changing artistic imperatives and a variety of social, political and geographical considerations. It strives to stay at a distance from the dominant centres of artistic production and looks for fertile grounds for the mapping of new directions curatorial practices, exhibition models and education.
MANIFESTA 7, the European Biennial of Contemporary Art is hosted by the Trentino – South Tyrol Region and runs from July 19 to November 2, 2008. For the first time it takes place in Italy and stretches across an entire regional territory – one hundred and fifty kilometres of crossroads of different cultures and intersecting traditions, rich in historical monuments and in sites of industrial archeology. It involves four cities which together create a single connecting route along the Brenner axis between the north and south of Europe: Fortezza (Bressanone), ex-Alumix factory in Bolzano, the Palazzo delle Poste in Trento, Manifattura Tabacchi and ex-Peterlini factory in Rovereto.
