About Me
BAND BIOGRAPHY: Formed in October 2003 Mothertrucker orginally was Charlie Butler (Guitar), Tom Moffat (Bass), James Davison (Drums), Chris Scrivens (Guitar) from Birmingham in the UK.
With influences coming from a wide range of bands like Black Sabbath, Kyuss, Mogwai, Tool, Slint, Red Sparowes, Pelican & Isis; Mothertrucker blend together the harshness of metal, the ambience, texture and lulling nature of post-rock, the groove and rolling rhythms of stoner rock and the gruesome dark feelings of doom with the aim of fusing all this into one as a truly cohesive sound.
Recorded in October 2004 after a year of crafting the songs and testing them out on the live circuit the band set their debut six track mini-album "The Last Ride Of Dr Sanchez" to disk at The Zoo Recording Studio in Nuneaton and self-released it in January 2005.
After months of writing new material whilst still supporting their debut release throughout the year they stepped into The Zoo Recording Studio in November 2005 to record again with producer Carl Harris (Mistress, Bullgator) what would become Electric Blacksmith (Released through Gallipoli Records).
Having played with the likes of Mono, 27, Aereogramme, Boris, Jesu, Raging Speedhorn, Truckfighters, You Judas, Yndi Halda, Shaped By Fate, bossk, eye, Mt., upcdowncleftcrightcabc+start and The Pirate Ship Quintet Mothertrucker have built up a strong fan base based on their live performances and the plans for the future are to play more gigs around the country, keep writing more and hopefully aim to lay down their debut album sometime in the not too distant future.
In April 2006 two new songs, "Creeping Leffe" & "Smooth Vulture" were tracked for a new split EP with Nottingham’s awesome intru-metal heroes The Legion Of Doom who also contribute 3 new tracks as their half. The CD is available through Sheffield’s Calculon Records (Sourvein, Among The Missing, Bumsnogger etc).
Brand new song "Shango" was recorded at Dubrek Studios in Derby (Lords, Fixit Kid, The Little Explorer) with Jay Dean (You Judas, Fixit Kid) and Olly Toogood (The Swarm, You Judas) in late July for a 7" split with good friends Una Corda now out on BH/BB Records (The Hearing, Hattori Hanzo, The Plague Symphony)In August 2006 Mothertrucker embarked on their first ever UK tour, taking in places as broad as Edinburgh and Bournemouth. Then in September with friends eye and bossk a second mini-tour was done taking in Leeds, Nottingham and more.In June 2007 they started to work with the french label Argghh!! Records (Good Bye Diana, Sofy Major, No Hay Deaz). Together they’ve decided to release a new CD in France called "Trebuchet" which will contain songs from "Electric Blacksmith", the split with The Legion Of Doom and "Shango" from the Una Corda split. The french CD was released in September 2007. Mothertrucker also supported this release with their first french tour from October 13th to the 20th.August 2007 the band decided to add close friend Bruce Goodenough into the band to expand their live sound and make them into a five piece. Bruce is a full member of the band and a welcome addition to Mothertrucker. In October 2007 James decided to leave the band with Bruce taking over drumming duties starting with the show at The Rainbow for Robot Professor Promotions on the 23rd of December 2007. It’s visceral, melodic, heavy, psychedelic, thoughtful, and I’ll say it again, crushingly heavy in the way a full-on aural assault of complex notes and layers is, like Explosions in the Sky - simply heavy as fuck" - StonerRockChick.com
"A primitive, raucous blend of stoner-rock meanderings and epic head-crushing riffs driven by primitive cave-man beats"
- National-Student.co.uk

"This is thick, lumpen, doom-laden steel of the heaviest order...psychedelic waves of effects-drenched guitars swoop and dive over an ominous tom pattern leading up to another unusual riff onslaught. Heavy."
- Ninehertz.co.uk"Put this CD on and allow singular, building, expansive, monumental, pummelling riffs to steamroller their way through your cerebral cortex and on into your subconscious. Over and over again." - DieShellSuit.co.uk"Songs that build up to tremendous points of absolute overwhelming power, altogether blending into one monstrous album." - Underground Review.net"Damn, it all to hell, if the hippies had been powered by the psychedelic waves of Mothertrucker, maybe "The Man" would be a thing of the past instead of loon pants, love beads and caftans and maybe we’d all be living in a musical utopia." - Subba Culture------------------------------------------------------------
