About Me

I love going to Old Trafford to watch Lancashire play, studying each delivery intently, for six and a half hours - I saw Andy Flintoff hit thirty-four runs in seven balls, before he was famous.

I love listening to music properly through twenty-year-old Linn speakers; I own a stupid number of records and CDs. The first record I bought was 'Into The Valley' by The Skids on March 10th 1979; the latest record I bought is a split yellow single by Balor Knights and Scarlet Tuesday.

I don't read as much as I would like to because my concentration wanders - I am currently in the middle of 'Ignorance' by Milan Kundera, 'Discipline And Punish' by Michel Foucault, 'The Complete Oxford History Of Music' and 'Inez' by Carlos Fuentes.

My favourite film is 'Doctor Strangelove'; my favourite author is J. G. Ballard; my favourite album is 'Seventeen Seconds'; my favourite food is curry; my favourite drink is tea; my favourite current TV show is 'The Sky At Night'

I have never learnt to drive.

Music: Nature or nurture

As humans, we respond to two characteristsics of music: Rhythm and melody. On hearing a piece of music, for the first time or otherwise, one instantly, and almost subconciously, recognises a rhythm re...
