At present I am recording studies of some of John Coltrane' best works. These include Resolution, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Giant Steps, Brazilia, and Song of Praise. Once the studies are complete I will record BOOK OF TWO WAYS. For the moment I have posted a few studies on Resolution, the second track on his landmark album "A Love Supreme" which the JCQ recorded in December of 1964. By May 1965 Trane's line forms and composing were at their zenith and remained so until his death two years later. Many fail to understand Trane's later music simply because the speed with which he was playing. Having transcribed much of his later works I can say that there was continual growth in his writing and playing. By 1965 a Twelve tone, and a 36 pitch system was masterfully controlled by Coltrane.
I hope that in some way BOOK OF TWO WAYS will highlight John Coltrane' significant contribution to music, in particular Coltrane as composer.
