1) "Night People" by Marc S. Langelier has just been released on Rattlemouth's newest CD "Home Fed and Full Grown".
2) This is my bass solo from the Rattlemouth song "Hop-about". Please understand that this is a rough-mix. This from a session with Scott Wolfe @ MDF. Since this version of my solo was not released on the Rattlemouth CD "Hopabout", I decided to post it here.
3) Excerpt from "Beautiful Giants": I used my Handsonic heavily in this piece. Also heard are a couple of unique shakers and an incredible rainstick that were gifts from friends, and my voice. Pretty much the same software as "Pushing Time", except no Finale.
The Choreography is by James Frazier . It was performed by VCU dancers . Many thanks to James, and the dancers at VCU.
4) Excerpt from "Pushing Time": Again the Handsonic is used extensively as well as the Wavestation. I was very privleged to be loaned 3 beautiful Balineese gongs for this piece by my dear friends Cory and Amy Blake. Needless to say, I took a lot of samples of those gongs.
Software used is Reaktor, Spektral Delay, AudioMulch with various plugs including the always wonderful Shapee, Finale (Strings), SoundForge 7.0, and AcidPro3.0.
The Choreography is by Scott Putman . It was performed by the Trainees of the Richmond Ballet. Many Thanks to Scott , the Richmond Ballet Trainees, and Judy Jacob.
bio:The most important news of all is the birth of my son, August Etienne Langelier, on 8/25/09.
Multi-Instrumentalist , Composer , and Sound Designer Marc S. Langelier has worked with modern dancers for
20 years. He is currently an accompanist for the VCU Dept. of Dance and Choreography , and the Richmond Ballet . He also works with
The University of Richmond , the Starr Foster Dance Project , the Latin Ballet of VA. ,
St. Christopher's School, and Henrico High School. Actively sought as a Composer for Modern dance , he has
worked with many Choreographers over the years. Some more recent compositions include - "Closer" ( Starr Foster / University of Richmond ), "Pushing Time" ( Scott Putman ), "M" ( Chris Burnside ), "Beautiful Giants" ( James Frazier ), "Tolerance
of Being" & "Tracks thru the Dreaming Grounds"*** ( Judith Steel ), and "Horizons" ( Myra Daleng ).
(***"Tracks Thru the Dreaming Grounds" was co-composed with Cory Blake.)
"Closer" will be performed at University of Richmond Feb. 23rd - 26th, 2006. Marc composed this music for
the band Rattlemouth ( Cuneiform ). This will be a live performance.
Autumn of 2005 brought Marc and long-time friend and musical collaborator Robbie Kinter (Rattlemouth,
Ululating Mummies) to the attention of choreographer Robert Battle . He immediately asked them to compose music for a piece he was setting on VCU dance students. Marc and Robbie performed "Virginia Reel" with dancers in March 2006 at
the Grace St. Theater March and on the Kennedy Center's Millenium Stage in May 2006. After the Grace St. Theater Performances, Myra Daleng (University of Richmond) commissioned Marc and Robbie to compose another work for Choreographer
Robert Battle. This new work was composed by Rattlemouth and will be performed live with the UR dancers Feb. 22 - 25, 2007 at the University of Richmond's Jepson Theater.
Marc and Robbie have also composed for and performed with ClancyWorks. ***Visit www.Clancyworks.com
to see a trailer from one of our collaborations.
In addition to working with Modern Dancers, Marc also has a handful of video credits. Airing on PBS, music for " Deconstructed Dialogues " was composed by Marc Langelier, Robbie Kinter, Danny Finney (Orthotonics, Ululating Mummies, Rattlemouth, HotelX), and Jerome Begin. This project was essentially the rebirth of the Band Rattlemouth (Cunieform). Although Jerome Begin left shortly after for New York, the trio was soon joined by guitarist/composer George Lowe (Ululating Mummies, Rattlemouth, HotelX). Rattlemouth has since composed music for a VCU school of the Arts promo video , and for videographer Pam Turner's "Between Frames". Robbie Kinter's composition for Starr Foster's dance video "Seven Sisters" was recorded by Rattlemouth. I play Bass Recorder and Handsonic on Seven Sisters.
Rattlemouth's new CD "Hopabout" will be available in time for our NEW YEAR'S EVE show @ Art6. We'll be posting some of these new tracks to the Rattlemouth page in the next week. A Rattlemouth website is currently under construction... We were finally able to obtain Rattlemouth.com!
