THE LOATHERS

About Me

The Loathers are:Frank BRUISER Loather: Guitars, Blues Harp, Lead VocalBIG JOHN Loather : Bass and Backing VocalsVinnie BARBARINO Loather : Drums and PercussionThe Loathers play, dirty, loud, fuzzed out, trad blues. Big bluesy riffs, mean slide guitar and guttural screams emerge from Frank Bruiser Loather as he exorcises his demons live! Big John and Vinnie Barbarino Loather play “in the pocket” keeping the rhythm super tight, heavy or light and stomping with grooves. The Loathers are a monster rock ‘n’ roll avalanche for your soul playing mostly original blues based music and occasional tributes to rock legends such as the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Cult and Tom Waits.Influences:The Rolling stones (early years), Led Zepellin, Hendrix, Howlin’ Wolf, Canned Heat, Cream, Chuck Berry, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, ZZ Top, John Lee Hooker, lightning Hopkins,Elmore James and John Brim.CHistory:The loathers current line up have been performing in various Sydney bands for over 10 years such as Nothing, Betty and Jim, NSA and My Pocket Radio. The loathers were formed by guitarist Frank Milic and former bass player Jordan Lacey in mid 2003. Originally experimenting with psychedelic, funk and even bluegrass genres, the loathers developed into a blues act as it came naturally and you can play blues when your drunk. Drummer Vinko Susac joined to complete the trio. The band first performed at the Brass Monkey in November ‘03 and the Annandale hotel in February ’04.Jordan Lacey moved back to Melbourne and was replaced by John Juric. The current line up has performed at the Town Hall Hotel Newtown, The Hopetoun Hotel Surry Hills, The KB Hotel Surry Hills, Arncliffe Hotel, The Harp Hotel Tempe, The Annandale Hotel, Peats Ridge Festival and have featured regularly for Klub Barfly events at the Empire Hotel Annandale.
