About Me

Myspace LayoutsThe United States is the world's leader in incarceration with 2.3+ million people currently in the nation's prisons or jails -- a 500% increase over the past thirty years. These trends have resulted in prison overcrowding and state governments being overwhelmed by the burden of funding a rapidly expanding penal system, despite increasing evidence that large-scale incarceration is not the most effective means of achieving public safety. The number of women in prison, a third of whom are incarcerated for drug offenses, is increasing at nearly double the rate for men. These women often have significant histories of physical and sexual abuse, high rates of HIV infection, and substance abuse. Large-scale women's imprisonment has resulted in an increasing number of children who suffer from their mother's incarceration and the loss of family ties. As a Group we are concerned about Prisoner Abuse, Prisoners Rights, Health care, Rehabilitation, Recidivism, Public Safety, The Death Penalty, Parole Issues, Sentencing Laws, Three Strikes, Wrongful Conviction, Mandatory Minimums, The Drug War and more. Use your voice, your pen, phone, keyboard, fax, and most important... use your power at the polls-VOTE!!! Become involved and Get Active!! One day some one you know and love could be behind bars. What will YOU do??

I'd like to meet:

IF YOUR NOT OUTRAGED,YOUR NOT PAYING ATTENTION!!"The world is a dangerous place to live-not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it." ~ Albert EinsteinWe want the general population to see that prison is not club med by any means. We will bring the good, the bad and the ugly to the frontlines, raising awareness of our nations justice system. We hope to introduce Organizations as well as men and women inside. This is not a pen pal site; although if you would like to write or send cards-we can arrange that.
