should it find a voice
and a sense of irony,
might now well say
of our abuse of it,
"Forgive them, Father,
They know not what they do."
The irony would be
that we know what
we are doing.
When the last living thing
has died on account of us,
how poetical it would be
if Earth could say,
in a voice floating up
perhaps
from the floor
of the Grand Canyon,
"It is done."
People did not like it here.
Kurt Vonnegut
Welcome! Lifelong work-in-progress individual trying to grasp life and what the whole deal of our short gig on earth is all about. I have a sincere interest in humanism, equity and justice for every creature and for the abused environment of planet earth itself.
You are the world,
the neighbour, the friend, the so-called enemy.
If you would understand, you must first understand yourself,
for in you is the root of all understanding.
In you is the beginning and the end.
Jiddu Krishnamurt
I spent about five years in Texas and have also been working in Crete, Greece and Libya. In the late 1990's I had the great opportunity to be involved in some recording sessions (Nevermore, Skrew, Old97s are probably the most prominent of them) at Sonic Ranch Studios in Tornillo, Texas - a superb studio complex with some of the finest gear, wonderful located close to the Mexican border.
Being raised in a musician's family I grew up with music. Started to hit the drums at age 4 and later I did change to guitar. I don't narrow myself to certain music styles - as long as it touches my soul, gives me the chill or kicks some arse - though Metal, Rock, Blues and Fusion are still my favorites.
Besides being a lecturer for audio engineering, information technology and electrical engineering in Hamburg for several years, I did some studio work and mastering jobs for various local bands and have also been playing guitar in a couple of metal and rock cover bands. This is my cover version of Hocus Pocus:
I am interested in politics, society, economy, environmental and animal protection, biodiversity and sustainability, We obviously have only this one world, so it is pretty stupid to either trash it, as we (the self-proclaimed "pride of creation") are doing it just for the profit and the wealth of a minority - wealth egoistically build on starvation and exploitation of a majority - or mess around with things which we are unable to handle, like nuclear power or genetic engineering. Every single creature must have a chance to live in dignity on this planet without starvation, poverty, exploitation, wars (religious, imperialistic, hegemonic or economic), terrorism and racism:
Because we all share this small planet earth, we have to learn to live in harmony and peace with each other and with nature. That is not just a dream, but a necessity. We are dependent on each other in so many ways, that we can no longer live in isolated communities and ignore what is happening outside those communities, and we must share the good fortune that we enjoy. - Dalai Lama
I condemn all forms of racism, discrimination and fanaticism stupidity. There is no such thing like a more significant human being. Nobody should get discriminated - no matter what the color of someone's skin, their religion, origin, gender, disability (everybody is in one or the other way disabled anyway) or sexual orientiation is. One people - One humanity - One world. Period!
I believe that a peaceful and fulfilling coexistence can only emerge out of respect, equity and tolerance, compassion and kindness, love and understanding. Our repression, selfishness, greed, social injustice, superficiality and exploitation are responsible for the current condition of our world and are the cause for agony and poverty, wars, terror and hatred. But every individual can make a difference just by challenging the actions within their every day life and scope, because each one of us is responsible for the actual situation - and nobody else:
As human beings living in this monstrously ugly world, let us ask ourselves, can this society, based on competition, brutality and fear, come to an end? Not as an intellectual conception, not as a hope, but as an actual fact, so that the mind is made fresh, new and innocent and can bring about a different world altogether? It can only happen, I think, if each one of us recognises the central fact that we, as individuals, as human beings, in whatever part of the world we happen to live or whatever culture we happen to belong to, are totally responsible for the whole state of the world. We are each one of us responsible for every war because of the aggressiveness of our own lives, because of our nationalism, our selfishness, our gods, our prejudices, our ideals, all of which divide us. - Jiddu Krishnamurti
