Life a song. God's love is the music.

About Me

Hi! Thanks so much for stopping by my site! This is a work in progress, so stay tuned for many updates ; ) My name is Emily Dowden and I play and sing old-time/ traditional/bluegrass and gospel music. I was raised in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks, and toured with my two older sisters, Laura and Hannah Dowden, for many years, while living in Mtn. View, AR and Asheville, NC. We were known as, "The Dowden Sisters," and the above six tracks are from our two, self-produced C.D.s we recorded in 2002. They are no longer available for purchase, but I am currently working on an updated project, and will soon have tracks from it available here at this site. A few years ago, I moved back home to my beloved Ozarks to pursue college and be near all of my family. I am a full-time college student at Missouri State University, Springfield, where I am working towards my Bachelor's degree. I graduated with my AA from MSU-West Plains last year. My Major is Creative Writing-English, and I am a Theater Minor. Once I earn my BA I plan to get back involved with music full-time again; but for now I enjoy performing part-time gigs here in the Springfield/Branson region, while going to school. I currently play with local artists here in Springield--Mark Cassidy, Casey Wilson, and Gary Rea. Mark and Gary are also in another band called, "The Hillbenders," check out their site (2nd on my top friends list,) and you may want to check out my personal site, too; I have it listed as my top friend lol. I love and appreciate all kinds of music, but acoustic/bluegrass/folk is especially near and dear to my heart, since that is the genre I have performed since I was a little girl.

The Psalmist David loved music, too, and the last chapter from his book of Psalms is my all-time favorite (especially verse 4!): "Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in His Sanctuary: praise Him in the firmament of His power. Praise Him for His mighty acts: Praise Him according to His excellent greatness. Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet: praise Him the psaltery and harp. Praise Him with the timbrel and dance: Praise Him with STRINGED INSTRUMENTS and organs. Praise Him upon the loud cymbals: praise Him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that has breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord." --Psalm 150
