About Me

The Roe Family Singers are an old-timey music group. We started as a husband-and wife duo, playing a few Johnny and June Carter Cash songs at a tribute to them shortly after Johnny Cash died. We have now grown into a 7-member hillbilly band! We write our own songs, and we also enjoy playing music by other people. On any given night you can hear us playing anything from Hank Williams to Bill Staines; from 400 year old ballads to Misfits songs; from Bill Monroe to Melanie Safka; all with a healthy dose of the Carter Family thrown in! To book us contact pappyroe(at)yahoo(dot)com
We love playing shows. We hope to start touring soon, so we can see the rest of the country and meet new folks. You should have us at your next festival or wedding: we love to play at them. We also want to be on Prairie Home Companion some day. To book us contact pappyroe(at)yahoo(dot)com
In the blog there are some links to live recordings made of us over the last year or so. Check them out and let us know what you think, please. To book us contact pappyroe(at)yahoo(dot)com

Before we had fallen asleep, our host, Ed Hoffman, had warned us that the bird in the next room would probably wake us up in the morning. I had noticed the cage, but since there was no noise coming fr...

Thursday morning came, and I woke up around 8:30. We had got to bed around 3:30, so I wasn't exactly excited to be up so early, but at least it wasn't my normal wake up time for a Thursday. I had a bo...

26th Annual Battle of the Jug Bands

In Minnesota, in winter, when you wake up to a sunny day it is a mixed blessing. It's always nice to see the sun shine, because it is rare that it does. On the other hand, a sunny day means a cold day...
