..THE ALLIED MEMORIAL PROJECT..

About Me

THE ALLIED MEMORIAL PROJECT SUPPORTING THE MEMORY OF ALL MEMBERS OF UK, ALLIED AND COMMONWEALTH FORCES THAT SERVED IN WW2, EMERGENCY AND CIVIL SERVICES,ALL WHO SERVED OR ARE STILL SERVING IN ALLIED FORCES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD TODAY. A MEMORIAL GARDEN AND MOUND OF PEACE WILL BE RAISED IN THEIR HONOUR. WE INVITE YOU TO SEND A PEBBLE FOR THE MOUND FROM YOUR HOME OR BASE.
The Allied Memorial Project aim to raise a memorial garden at Normandy Way, St Budeaux, Plymouth as a salute to all who served in WW2 in the British, Commonweath and Allied Forces, also in memory of all Emergency and Civil Forces and all who lost in the conflict.
We will also mark those who served from the Irish Republic with a special stone and all those who have served in the years since in the various conflicts will be marked along with those who serve today.
The reason we use Normandy Way is it was the site from which many of the 36,000 troops departing Plymouth left for the landings in 1944, 1.5 million US troops left from the South West in all, it is also the site of the US Naval camp and also the receiving camp for the returning injured.
Plymouth was an International fortress in the build up to D-Day, it was also a blitzed city and almost destroyed, sadly many who were lost in Operation Tiger were based in Plymouth, it is also a home to the Royal Navy so it is a good site for the garden.
WE WILL BUILD UP THIS SITE WITH THE HISTORY AND PHOTOGRAPHS WITH YOUR HELP,DO YOU HAVE MEMORIES OF YOUR SERVICE DAYS? WHE WILL GLADLY PUBLISH PHOTOGRAPHS FROM ALLIES AROUND THE WORLD TODAY
We also plan the Allied Veterans Airshow with Plymouth Helping Hands in 2009 along with a Military Tattoo, watch this space. Proceeds to Service charities.
No listing of campaigns or international events will appear as we do not wish to overlook anyone, in our work with the disabled we remember them all! Anon.
