Home of the Brave and the Free

About Me

I was conceived July 4, 1776 when the Thirteen Colonies declared their Independence from Great Britain. I was not born until Sept 3, 1783 after The War of Independence, the Revolutionary War, when the British king George III and U.S. leaders signed the Treaty of Paris. That is a 7 year gestation, longer than it takes to make an elephant. It was worth it. Don't forget that. It was 80 years later (that's four score if you're counting) Nov 19, 1863 that President Lincoln uttered brief remarks at the dedication of a portion of the Gettysburg Pennsylvania battlefield that suffered 51,112 casualties during the Civil War. Here he offered a plea or challenge to us the people that this "government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth." Now, yet, still, as it has always been, freedom is not free. Freedom is not without its responsibilites. Don't forget that either.

My Interests

Environment, Health and Nutrition, Travel, History, Reading, Theology, the Arts, Home and Garden, presently scanning hundreds of old photos. What can we learn from the past?

I'd like to meet:

Those who realize the gifts and responsibilites of being/becoming citizens. Those who flee from tyrants. Those accomplished in their field and innovators. People who are willing to work hard with long range plans to make a good place for our little ones who can grow up to meet the challenges of life without the guidance and handouts from Big Brother or Sister, or a State Religion.

Music:

Many kinds from Bluegrass to Jazz to Rock to Classical, much more!

Movies:

In America, Millions, Deer Hunter, Clockwork Orange, too many to list

Television:

almost never

Books:

History, Religion, Gardening, Art, Cormac McCarthy out west, too many to list

Heroes:

Quiet heroes, Hard workers, American soldiers, People of character, Those who commit their thoughts and words to deeds. Those who understand that through nothing they deserved, they were born in a free country and if they want that country to long prosper, they are responsible to vote out the politicians who misguidedly believe that this is the government of the politicians, by the politicians, for the politicians and big business. Those who understand that this IS a government of the people, by the people and if it isn't working they are responsible for that failure and aren't doing what needs to be done.
