Seeing. Hearing. Feeling. Creating. Losing myself in water, paint, charcoal, sex, the sky, a kiss, a belly laugh, red wine, dark chocolate, sweet remembrance, a newborn baby's eyes, someone's moment, my children's hair on my face, homebaking, going to sleep. Sharing this world. Balance. Acceptance. Being Awake and Aware. Living now in the 21st Century in Australia. "Habitat"..... I have a medium term objective to set up a creative community service, providing involvement in creative arts to people living "on the edges" of society..especially young people leaving state care. I'm really excited about this and have been hearing about some new, inventive and successful programmes happening around Australia. Like one combining antenatal care of aboriginal teenage mum's with making and painting caste's of their pregnant bellies...with great health outcomes for the babies! I have a handful of friends who are looking to do something similar - performing artists, musicians, social workers (my past profession), psychologists and visual artists. Any of you who've done anything like this or know anyone who has I'd love your advice! Leunig, Australian Cartoonist

Currently reading "Awakening: A Memoir of Revolution and Hope" by the lawyer and human rights activist Shirin Ebadi. Finally I'm putting all the pieces of the Iran/Iraq/US puzzle together. Combined with other reading and conversations I've had with refugees I think what she has to say is her truthful story and anyone who wants some insight into what's happening, and the events of the 20th century leading up to the current situation should read her book. Just finished "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini..the author of "The Kite Runner". "Artlink" contemporary Australian art magazine
SURVIVORS OF ALL KINDS........You can say the sun is shining if you really want to - I can see the moon and it seems so clear - You can take the road that takes you to the stars now - I can take a road that'll see me through - (Nick Drake "Road") xxx "Celtic Dreaming" "Troubles".....REMEMBER, THE PAST REALLY IS GONE IF WE WANT IT TO BE.
