I am here for Friends

About Me

Blah, Blah, Blah. Does anyone even pay attention to these things once you've been their friend for so long?
I changed my name because I like Pulp magazine and book covers, I also love bad B- Movies and since there seems to be no shortage of these things you can expect me to play around with that for a looooong while.
I moved from Chino to Barstow. An hour and a half from anyone I know but it's not so bad. The wildlife up here is really cool. My Scotties like it too. I am on an acre + so they can bark their fool heads off and no one cares. And then there is the house I bought here in Barstow, which requires an enormous amount of money and attention. The previous owner owned a couple of Time-Life books about how to do plumbing and electricity but he apparently didn't read them before he got to work on remodeling.
I use to say that I don't hold grudges but really what I should say is that I don't stay angry. Life is too short to hold on to anger (not even for Straw Hat Pizza). Anyway, you can let go of things only when you aren't angry anymore. And if you can't let it go, then you should push it way deep down inside of you and buy a sniper rifle, I hear that works wonders.
There's so much more to a person though than you could ever get from just reading one of these things... if you feel like saying "hi" drop me a line, I'm always up for making new friends.

My Interests

Reading (Historical Biographies mostly but I also like Anne Rice and the Sonjia Blue series, as well as books on Mythology and Folklore), Video Games (I have an Xbox and a Gamecube in addition to my PC games), I am an amature photographer, I like to garden but don't get to do a lot of it. I love music, I like to travel and see new places and I love bad B-movies, in fact I get together with friends once a month just to watch bad films.....I also like going to the theater and love Disneyland (I love my annual pass). I'm also a dyed in the wool Liberal and have written a few opinion pieces for the web.

I'd like to meet:

Neale Donald Walsch (the author of Conversations with God- no, I'm not a Jesus freak), so I could pick apart his brain. Other than that I don't really care about meeting celebraties, people are people no matter what they do for a living. I would like to meet some locals though, I don't really know anyone here in the 'Stow.

Music:

It really just depends on my mood. Fleetwood Mac and Concrete Blonde are my favorites, but I listen to most kinds of music. I'm a big country rock fan too, like J. D. Souther, Lone Justice, Eagles, and I luuuuve Linda Ronstadt, that girl can sing. I'll listen to most anything, even rap on occasion, but I hate most techno.

Movies:

Monty Python and the Holy Grail is an all time favorite. I love B-movies, the older and stranger the better (think of Mystery Science Theater 3000). I don't know what it is but I hate Robert Altman films, not straight forward enough I guess. But I do love stuff like Raiders of the Lost Arc, Addams Family, Schindlers List, Bound, Run Lola Run and so on. I like all types of films and don't really have a specific genere that I like more than another.

Television:

I LOVE the Simpsons and I watch a lot of Law and Order. I like most animatied shows, South Park, Family Guy, Drawn Together and their ilk.

I'm not into reality shows at all (too real, watching people argue and stab each other in the back -yuck!). I'll go out of my way to stay up for Conan O'Brian's monologue. I recently got cable but I never end up watching anything, I can never remember whats on when and the remoe doesn't work right now anyway.

Books:

Conversations with God is a fantastic book if you like to have your ideas about faith challenged. The whole series of CWG books by Neale Donald Walsch is teriffic, but the first one is far and away my favorite, I think it's the most important book I've ever read. I loved The Agony and the Ecstacy by Irving Stone. I've read a lot of Anne Rice and am currently reading the Sonjia Blue series. Mostly what I read are biographies and history. I really enjoy the Harry Potter series and the Lord of the Rings trilogy was cool (as was the Hobbit).

Heroes:

Eleanor Roosevelt, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and most of all, My Mom

Openness

The paper cover was falling off of me as I tried to "scoot all the way forward".  My doctor grabbed it so it didn't fall off entirely.  "Ahh, the indignities of the yearly physical", I said....

Peeping Tom

Ok so maybe I am being a bit dramatic but I turned on the swamp cooler the other day and was going around closing doors and windows when I saw a white chunk hanging off the side of the house.  "...
