Cosmic Country Rawk

About Me

Jennifer has finished up her second solo CD (see our MS store) with producer Bil VornDick. Bil has produced eight Grammy-winning recordings and 43 Grammy finalists. Though Bil is best known as the producer who developed Alison Krauss, he also produced Bob Dylan, Bela Fleck, Ralph Stanley and many others. In 1998, he producedClinch Mountain Country one of the largest collaborative recorded projects in Nashville thatwas awarded ..1 Country Album of the Year by Rolling Stone.
Jennifer's music explores the many different facets of life on lifes terms and relationships. Song craft is the key ingredient in Jennifer's material. Her vocals twist and turn with her melodies and chord progressions, bringing to mind that lost soothing warmth that can be heard in voices like Patsy Cline and Emmylou Harris.
Jennifers career is not lacking in milestones and achievements. She is a Billboard award winning songwriter who has sold over 5,000 tapes and CDs, selling 2500 in seven months atperformances alone. She has received radio play from independent stations throughout the U.S., parts of Europe, Australia and New Zealand. She has performed in front of crowds of over 4,000 in venues in California and the South. She has played the Thunderbird Theatre in Branson, MO, and the Talladega Super Motor Speedway. In 2001, she recorded her first full length CD with some help from her sisters along with the help of producer Tommy Allsup.
After a brief hiatus from music, Jennifer moved to Nashville in December of 2001. She has quickly gained the respect of Music Citys songwriting community and has picked up a healthy regional following. Her band of top-notch musicians has been playing to growing crowds each time they return to a venue. Through her relentless promotion and musical talent, she is now playing bigger clubs such as, The Mercy Lounge in Nashville and Phoenix Hill Tavern in Louisville, KY and Rhythm and Brews in Chattanooga TN.
Jennifer conquered the internet via Mp3.com and Garageband. You Left Me Crying shot upto ..11 on Mp3.coms Country General charts, (which like radio is based on plays) within a week of being uploaded, and remained ahead of names like Dolly Parton and Nickel Creek for over a month. I Need A Place also grabbed a ..12 spot on the same charts. Shes Just Fine hit ..1 on Mp3s Americana Charts and Did It For You, Oh Why Did It Take So Long, and She Will Survive hit ..2, 3, and 4 also on the Americana charts. I Need A Place hit ..1 overall on Garageband.com, the second largest internet music site. With a chart system based on listener reviews, she also grabbed a ..2 slot on the sitesFolk/country charts.
Jennifer was born in Florida and grew up in Mississippi and California. She was also born amusician. She began tinkering on the piano at age one. Both of her parents were musicians and encourage her to start taking piano lessons at age six. She wrote and recorded her first song, using an old reel to reel. Later she taught herself to play guitar as well.
Jennifer began her performances playing gospel. The church was a big influence on her early songwriting. She played in churches and various venues even opening for the Christian rock act David and the Giants. Later in life she began listening to the Beatles, The Stones and country music too. Emmylou Harris, Gram Parsons, Roger Miller and Willie Nelson have all been huge ifluences. Growing up in Mississippi and California you get exposed to quite a lot musically and culturally, she says.

Sounds Like: We're not real sure but The Asheville Citizen Times said "How clear can we make this - singer-songwriter Jennifer Brantley and her band is one of the best new acts we've heard this year. Brantley and her boys have a catchy rockin' Americana sound that we dig. They're going to be huge. "
