I am an old Spanish style city. I lie on the Pacific Coast, 98 miles north of Los Angeles. I preserve much of my Spanish background. Many visitors come visit me during the Old Spanish Days "Fiesta", which is held every August. Tourism is a major source of my income. I have Great Schools like UCSB, SBCC, Wesmont College, Brooks Institute, Dos Pueblos High School, Santa Bárbara High School, Bishop Diego High School, and San Marcos High School. I was founded by Father JunÃpero Serra and Capitán José Francisco de Ortega in 1782. I was incorporated as a city in 1850.
