A chance meeting in a Prague nightclub between former band mates; a mutual longing to experience a decidedly more noble and aristocratic musical presentation; journeys of musical and self-discovery, from Tokyo to San Francisco and from heavy metal gigs to covers in dodgy bars. These were the elements that brought about the inception of Ottawa, Canada-based band Autobahn in 2003, a collection of four talented musicians with a shared aspiration to create compelling music with synth-laden hooks, soaring vocals, unforgettable melodies and driving beats.
Drawing on their mutual influences of Brit-Pop, guitar rock, and Euro-flavoured club mixes, Autobahn creates a unique hybrid of dance-based pop music that easily transcends genres.Upon recording their debut self-titled EP, Autobahn quickly began making a name for themselves through their engaging and stylish live performances at various clubs in the Ottawa area. With a creative desire for always writing new and fresh material, the self-dubbed electro-rawk proletariats set up a studio bunker at an East-end industrial park; a self-contained recording, mixing and mastering complex providing them the freedom to craft, record, remix and digitally distribute at their discretion. With a regional win at the Canadian Radio Star National Songwriting competition for their hit “Twiggy†to their credit, Autobahn continues on their quest to bring an element of sonic bliss and stylistic elegance to their live performances and recorded material.
