About Me

"It doesn't get any better than the raw energy of The Kings of Lowertown. In the tradition of Paul Westerberg and Wilco, these songs speak for themselves."
Sean Duregger -IndieUprising, www.indieuprising.net
"I generally make it a rule to not write about singles without first hearing the rest of the album. There are just too many bands who can come up with one solid lead single, only to follow it up with an album that doesn't come anywhere close to delivering on the single's promise. Over the last week or two, however, I've heard songs from forthcoming albums by a couple of bands which have made me rethink this policy, even if only for one post. The first of these tracks is "Beautiful Nothing", by Ottawa folk-rockers The Kings Of Lowertown.......the basic riff is catchy enough to suggest the band has potential, while the singing on the extremely bluegrass-y "Mazy Day" are strong enough that it's not hard to imagine these guys could develop into a band to watch."
Matt Pollesel - i(heart)music.net
"pert-near anthemic, alright!"
Mike Watt - the Minute Men, the Stooges, Watt From Pedro.
Additional Information:
O.k. here goes: Kings of Lowertown is the name that I write and record under. "Garage/Americana" - It's what I know and it's what I'll make. Nothing prolific or revolutionary here. Just decent, rough 'n ready songs when they happen. I won't take myself too seriously but I'm going to take my music seriously. It's a straightforward, no bullshit affair. Right now I'm leaking songs on myspace and playing the one-off acoustic guitar show to test out material for an album or more likely, a CD sampler. Please check-in from time-to-time and see if I'm playing in a dive near you. So far, so good......
And even more information:
At the moment the sound quality of the recordings is MP3 so any interested people out there might like to use a good set of headphones for optimal listening. I find that it makes the difference. If I'm lucky maybe one or two others will think it's alright. Anyway, I like it. Mike Watt of the Minute Men & the Stooges is up with it. My family and friends are with me. That's what counts. Hearts and minds one at a time. So much more to come. New songs and some more good shows and meeting people along the way.
(Phew! Well, I better get going and sweep up in here! Christ! How did it get so messy? Songwriting and D.I.Y. sure makes a whole lot of clutter! See you.)
