Sam and the Stylees was formed in 2002 on the green lands of Tulsa, Oklahoma. This vibrant band has captured the hearts of the masses in the regional Music scene with the messages in their Music. In a town with hidden Rastas, Lions, Lionesses & peace loving people alike. Their also one of the few local acts within the genre.
Sam and the Stylees has something for all Music tastes. REGGAE /SOUL / ROOTS with a touch of World Beat, Jazz, Jam, Funk & Rock. How ever you like your Reggae, you'll find meanings of the messages in their lyrics.
The group was a nominee in the Tulsa World Spotnik from 2004 - 2006. In 2004 they won the local battle of the bands. They've taken their spot in The Beat Mag, Urban Tulsa Weekly, Tulsa World, on T.V. & Radio stations. They've played at: D-fest, Reggae Fest Tulsa, Reggae Fest OKC, Drum Day Tulsa, Charity & Benefit concerts, Weddings, regional, as well as locally.
The ensemble have had the honor to play along side The Wailers, Steel Pulse, Local Hero, Third world, Citizen Mundi, Trauma, Circa 360 and many other Blessed acts both local & regional.
The Bands 1st debut CD "Serious Ting," was released in 2003. The people demanded more, Sam and the Stylees delivered! The 2nd CD "Survival Mode", came forth in 2007. Both CD'S Keep their fans hungry for more with such songs as " Sunday Morning" , "We Are One", " The Cops are Coming" & "Frogs". In late 2007 into 2008 Sam and the Stylees when not playing shows or coming up with new and creative ways to please their loyal people, they can be found in the Recording studio while their fans anxiously await the arrival of their 3rd CD.
This band is well known not only for drawing large crowds, but lifting their souls with enchanting instrumental work while empowering mystical vocals of enlightenment. When going to one of their shows, exspect to see a solid & humble performance from beginning to end, while Jah's children engage in dancing, laughing, singing along & uniting in peace.
Sam and the Stylees mission is to carry on the traditions from their for fathers to the present & future generations, also to exspand Tulsa's Rasta inspired heritage & knowledge to all people. They bring with them possitive messages of strength, freedom, truth, peace (Irie Vibes) for all brothers & sisters that I&I. WE ARE ONE!
