About Me

READ A NOVEL FOR CHARITY!
Here's the deal: download of copy of my unpublished thriller PARALLAX at this link . Give it a read, enjoy yourself. Then make a donation to Horizons for Homeless Children (a Boston-based charity helping homeless kids) by sending it to me via PayPal (my email for the donation is: [email protected]). I'm hoping you'll send at least one dollar ($1) but you can send as much as you want. All proceeds (minus fees and expenses) go directly to the charity. Help Horizons for Homeless Children help more kids have a great holiday season this year and for many years to come!
I'm the author of over a dozen novels (so far) including five in my hard-boiled un-vampire vampire series, the Lawson novels. I'm one of the writers on the ROGUE ANGEL adventure series for Gold Eagle, contracted for eight novels thus far. I write mysteries, thrillers, and stuff with a supernatural element. Grab a copy of my latest mystery/thriller by clicking the cover image at left! I've also co-authored two non-fiction books, including my latest, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Ultimate Fighting.
I'm always down in NYC at least once a month for some cool gigs with other entertainment professionals - folks in film/TV and the music biz. Most of the time the events are in great clubs and bars, which means I get to listen to some great music while hanging with cool people.
Swing by my website (the redesign will be unveiled soon) at www.jonfmerz.com .

My Interests

Writing my various novels, non-fiction books, and short stories with an occasional screenplay thrown in for good measure.

I've studied martial arts for over twenty years. I enjoy reading, dancing, watching cool flicks, writing music, listening to cool music, walking the streets of New York City at night preferably with a beautiful woman...

I'd like to meet:

Kelly Hu, Tia Carrere, Sung-Hi Lee, Catherine Zeta-Jones because they're all so amazingly hot. Who else...everyone on my friends list. I like interacting with people from all walks of life - everyone's got a story and I'm a sucker for a good tale. And yes, I love meeting beautiful women...especially women with amazing eyes.
I'm also very interested in hearing from entertainment biz professionals-writers, development execs, producers, directors, actors, musicians. Drop me a line! You never know, some day we might do some business together.
And while I love a good wine with dinner, my drink of choice is always Bombay Sapphire and tonic. There's no finer gin in the world!
Do not even think about requesting me to be your friend if all you do is send out "ADD THIS GUY/GAL" bulletins - in other words if you're whoring anyone, don't friend me. I just deleted several folks from my list. Too much to do and no time to waste on that idiocy.

Music:

A huge range of stuff: New Order, Depeche Mode, INXS, Paul Van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Def leppard, 80s hair bands, 80s new wave, Vivaldi, Mozart, Holst, Dexter Gordon, Miles Davis, trance, house, Latin, Public Enemy, Eric B. & Rakim, Usher, pretty much anything but country...

Movies:

Jaws, Heat (Pacino & De Niro), any Sean Connery James Bond flick except Never Say Never Again, Goodfellas, Lord of the Rings, Wedding Crashers, Old School, Caddyshack, Stripes, pretty much anything with action or comedy or both.

Television:

Old faves: The Equalizer & WiseguyCurrent: The Apprentice, Survivor, Prison Break, Lost, Wanted, Family Guy

Books:

All of mine, of course! THE FIXER, THE INVOKER, THE DESTRUCTOR, THE SYNDICATE, THE KENSEI, and DANGER-CLOSE
Other authors I will always read:
Masaaki Hatsumi
Stephen K. Hayes
Elmore Leonard
Robert B. Parker (and not just because he blurbed my first novel, lol)
David Morrell
Andy McNab
Any Calvin & Hobbes collection

Holy Crap!

Someone cranked the ol' record player from 33 1/3 to 78 rpm when I wasn't looking. Four books by December: two novels, a non-fic manual, and a memoir, plus a novella, and a bunch of stuff I can't tal...
