At Halewai these questions, these thoughts catalyze a different sense of purpose in what we do. The Ocean is a playground… but the cities and war-torn villages are where most of us live. Our message is not simple; it cannot be summed up in one word.
We are initializing a push… off the couch, out of your car, off the beach, into our neighborhoods into our neighbors’ lives; the purpose? to make a difference; It is time to face reality, our world (not just America) is in need of people who care about more than their vanity, newest lawn-care product, newest CD that was released. We need to get off of our Instant Messengers and into our communities, if you don’t have one, there are communities all around the world that need people to give not just money or time, but also their hearts.
We must refuse to ignore the news, people in our nation’s cities are murdering each other because they don’t believe that people can live in healthy communities, they don’t understand that getting ahead is an illusion. Who will tell them? Will you give up an evening, or a week, or your seat on the bus…
Slow down for a moment, listen to that sound again, it will only get louder, each year that passes, each opportunity passed-up… Grab hold now, start the push, together, we can change the world. It must start now, for our planet, for our country, for our neighbor.
