About Me

The wind was blowing in from the West the day he rolled into Austin. Eight wheels on his feet, he had a thirst for whiskey...and for trouble. A mounted APD officer took one look at the newcomer and pointed him in the direction of 6th Street. "You're looking for the Jackalope," he said,"go straight there and don't cause any trouble." Since trouble was his forte, he was a little disappointed, but one look at the taser on the cop's hip told him to follow the advice, just this once. Rolling up to the Jackalope, he could see this was his kind of place. Dark, cozy, and playing a good blend of music. He rolled up to the bar. The bartender caught his eye and moved to get his order. As the barkeep poured the whiskey, he told the newcomer to look around. "These are your kind. " He pointed to a group in the corner. At first glance, they were a group of Catholic schoolgirls. "Those are the baddest apples ever to roll out of the Sacred Heart School..call themselves the Holy Rollers." They had the faces of angels, but a closer look told him those halos were a bit tarnished. One, sporting a very spectacular bruise on her thigh, slowly twirled a gold baseball bat and hummed hymns. The bartender pointed to another table across the room. "Those are La Muerta's girls, Las Putas del Fuego." The stranger watched as a few of them polished brass knuckles. One, she had a flaming chili pepper on her helmet, shot tequila and looked for trouble. Two of her teammates, one with long braids, the other with shorter hair and a devilish grin, drank a concoction known as an Irish Car Bomb. " Those Putas call them a Chola Bomb." The stranger knodded in appreciation of their skill, and alcohol capacity. A blast of pure Punk Rock issued from a jambox in the middle of a group of green clad punks. As the Ramones wailed away, a few drank cold Lone Star Beer, the others practiced quick drawing their switchblades. The bartender pointed to the Chainsaw symbol above the booth. "Those are the Cherry Bombs. As dangerous as they are fun to be around." Flashbulbs popped from a fourth table. The stranger's eyes followed back to a table surrounded by a group worthy of the attention. "That would be the Hellcats," the bartender said,"Nice to look at, but be careful. They have black hearts and sharp claws." The strangers mind was more occupied with thoughts of their hot, pink,..uh..uniforms. The stranger was settling back to watch the show when, with a crash, a barstool came flying through the window. With a loud YEEEEEHAAAW!! the final players entered the room. "Those are the Rhinestone Cowgirls, a rowdy, whiskey fueled herd of fillies looking to stir up some action." The stranger bought a bottle of bourbon and followed them to their table. One particularly dangerous looking Cowgirl fixed a Homicidal stare on him.."Yes??" she asked. "Just thought you needed something to drink." He poured her a double bourbon on ice and handed her the glass. She accepted it with a nod and began to knock it back. "What's your name?" she asked. "They call me Pinto." he replied. She looked puzzled.."Why?" In a moment of panicked confusion he stammered"Just because." She considered that answer and moved on. His attention was drawn to a peculiar jingling. Looking down he smiled. Any woman that would strap a pair of spurs to her skates was OK in his book. He struck up a conversation with her. She told him of a place called the Thunderdome, where all of these groups met to see who was the best. To the winner went the highest prize..the Calvello Cup. He considered what she said, and decided to check this out for himself. Rolling up to the doors of the Thunderdome, Pinto felt strangely at home. He entered and beheld the beauty of the Texas Roller Speedway. Slowly he circled it, taking in each and every contour of it's banked corners and fast straightaways. Before long he had rolled to the part of the track known only as Turn 4. Here dwelt the tribe he hadn't realized he had been searching for. They called themselves the Board Whores, and they welcomed him to their home. A finer bunch of crazy people he had never come across. He set his toe stops hard into the floor of Turn 4 and decided to stay. My Interests

Sports..especially NFL Football, baseball, but neither of these hold a candle to ROLLER DERBY!!! The greatest show on 8 wheels. Flat track-banked track, it doesn't matter. If the ladies are on the track, look for me, I'll be around somewhere. Look in Turn 4 first. I also enjoy the occasional cold Lone Star (or Moosehead) at the Jackalope. I like to skate. I'm still a sometimes wobbly-legged beginner (especially out on the street) but I'm enthusiastic and getting better. This is what I roll with..my rockin R3's.

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet interesting people from all over. Rollergirls, roller derby fans, all TXRD Board Whores are welcome, or anyone with an off center sense of humor or world view. Please leave a comment
