About Me

Drummer, bubnjar, bubeník, trommeslager, rumpali, batteur, Trommler, batterista, perkusista, baterista, bateristul, tambor, trummis.
Doc MacNab is an American-born pop, rock and fusion drummer and classical percussionist from New York, NY and has played around the world with artists like the US Department of Defense touring band, Broken Wings, Haak-MacNab (with German-born Megatar virtuoso, Dino Haak), and has also shared the stage on numerous occasions with the infamous Artis the Spoonman of Frank Zappa, Bob Dylan and Soundgarden fame.
Born and raised in northeast Ohio, Doc MacNab left home at the age of 17 for military service with the US Army. Trained as a medic, a paratrooper and eventually performing his duties in a Special Operations capacity, Doc left military service after 8 years. In that time, Doc had deployed to hot and cold spots all over the globe, serving soldier and citizen alike.
Doc began his musical path in the public school setting at the age of 10 and continued his learning at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he studied under Dr. Cort McClaren. There, Doc recorded the percussion orchestra compositions of Philip Parker. Later, Doc MacNab finished his degrees at Virginia Commonwealth University, earning a BA in English and Religious Studies and a Master of Teaching.
Doc MacNab has supported some noteworthy players in the industry like spoon player Artis the Spoonman, singer/songwriter Pat McGee, Chapman Stick and Mobius Megatar virtuoso Dino Haak, singer Katy Cornell (Chris Cornell’s younger sister) and was drummer for Department of Defense touring rock band, Broken Wings.
During the late 1980’s and 90’s, Doc MacNab worked under the moniker Nightwave as he spun Goth and Industrial dance hits in clubs from Chapel Hill, NC to Washington DC. During that time he also worked in radio as a jock, electronic music director, Program Director and General Manager at WVCW radio in Richmond, VA; Doc brings a thorough understanding of electronic music to his drumming behind the Raygun Girls.
With a tasteful and mature approach to his playing, Doc is lends a sonic approach to the Raygun Girls, where craft is required among musicians to build upon a solid foundation. Doc is creative, imaginative and has an artistic integrity that will not be satisfied with an inferior performance.

You Should Play the Drums
You are often hyper, restless, and full of a little too much zeal.
However, people may be surprised to know that you can focus your energy well.

You are driven and engaged enough to be a great drummer... and you have the stamina to practice for hours.
In fact, when you can channel your energy productively, it only increases!

You are independent and spirited... but also consistent. You can definitely keep the beat.
You work well in a group and contribute heartily - without needing to take the lead.

Your dominant personality characteristic: your aggression

Your secondary personality characteristic: your precision

"Cool sticks; I love & use them. You rock!" G [Gonzo, Armored Saint]

"[Doc is] like a luxurious shampoo and conditioning treatment - the nice, organic plant-essence kind: if I can't have one once a day, then every other day would work just fine. Longer than that and I start to feel greasy and cranky." -- Valerie Madsen: Seattle Seahawks Blue Thunder, Independent
