My name is Tom Corcoran and i'm a drummer/percussionist and composer. Music is my life. I don't play to be famous or rich but because i have to. I think to make great music, you have to let go of all the things you think you know about music and when you give yourself to the music with an open mind, that's when music will say hello to you. How can you learn to be a musican? No its not in a book or in a music school. Its in life. Its about emotion. Its about attitude. Its about the person you are. Ask yourself what music owes you. Well, what does it owe you? It owes me nothing and it never will, but I owe music everything. It saved my life. I was once a footballer and wanted to be the very best there was, but I picked up a very bad injury and had to stop playing. My dream was taken from me and in my darkest moment I thought, 'what will i do?' At 14 you can see no light at the end of the tunnel, but that old guitar I had saved me, so i started a band with my friends. I was the singer and drummer, until one bright day Rudy Ramos - a guitar player ,and, the most talented guy you're ever likely to meet came for a jam and, a week later, brought me to see the great Terry bozzio play. Well, when someone like me saw a musician like that, I knew that this is what i wanted to do with the rest of my life. Yes, I have done this and that. I do recording, drum clinic, I teach, I have played with a lot of great musicians. I was in LA for a while also, but i'll let the music do the talking for now. Its not about who you are. Its where you want to go that counts. I would like to help all bands and musicians to realise that its not a race - its music, and good music never gets old. Its not about being on t.v. or record deals - its about the art that you make. So I hope that one day I can inspire someone to believe that the impossible can happen, so god bless you all.
