I am here for Friends

About Me

I've played music all my life. I grew up in Livermore, Ca. where my parents started me on piano at the age of three. I moved through lots of instruments, flute, violin, french horn, eventually settling on the cello and upright bass. I attended Berklee College of Music on a scholarship where I majored in Jazz Performance. After meeting a bunch of bluegrassers in college, I left after three years to play in the Two High String Band. It was while I was living in Austin and playing with them that I met Peter Rowan. I started playing with Peter in the fall of '98, then Tony Rice joined up in '99 to form the Peter Rowan & Tony Rice Quartet. Years later, I moved away from the beautiful Texas hill country to Nashville, where I currently live. That move proved to be the best thing that ever happened to me. I'm still playing upright bass and cello, and I'm honing my vocal skills. I currently play with Patty Griffin on her "Children Running Through" tour.

Flying and gEarls

My run with the Uncle Earl was probably the busiest, most tiring, funnest road trip I've ever done. It started on my 31st birthday, August 22nd. I had been off the Patty bus for only 2 days, (during w...
