About Me

I used to provide the beats for Robert Paulson (Cadalack Ron) at a radio show on Reed College campus from 99-2001. "Little Johnny" started out as a concept because we were using instrumentals from a Company Flow album called "Little Johnny from the Hozpital". For some reason Rob started calling me "Little Johnny". Some people have heard "Little Johnny" mentioned in some of Cadalack's rhymes and they "thought that was some other fool". The character of "Little Johnny" started getting all kinds of weird associations that have nothing to do with the El-p concept and are more free floating in their tangents on the number of rats that can be inserted into whichever particular orifice. So sometimes it could refer to me but even when I was playing the Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dweller dyslexic in the sewers character, in what way were those extensions of me ever real anyway.
I still try to make songs sometimes. In 2006 I made one that ended up being used on Cadalack's 2007 album "Dead at 27". That album featured collaborations with a variety of producers and emcees: Serp Dot, Existereo, Konsept, Open Mike Eagle, Briefcase of the Constructivists, MOT, FOTNS, Silencio, etc. Have you heard it?

I think this medium is perfectly fine and doesn't rot your brain any more than any other passive aesthetic activity. Lots of other shit caters to the lowest common denominator, too. You have to find the good shit. I don't see why people are so down on it.
